Mariah Riddlesprigger was born in Fresno, California. She is the daughter of Pat and Cathy Riddlesprigger. According to the stats collected by the Rice University — where she graduated from afterwards —in 2009, she posted 342 kills, 212 digs, 22 aces, 17 blocks, and a .433 kill percentage. In that same year, she averaged 3.7 kills per game.

In 2010, Mariah went to Rice University in Houston, Texas. She majored in Sports Management and Sociology and minored in Business while working in the university’s ticket office. Riddlesprigger also played volleyball in her university and was part of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Mariah’s athleticism immediately impressed the volleyball team and coach in her first year. Genny Volpe, the coach that has been in front of the team for more than 15 years, said in an interview for the University, “Mariah is one of the most dynamic athletes we’ve ever had at Rice.”

According to the Rice Owls site, in her senior year, she played in 29 matches, started in 23, recorded a season-high of 16 kills in a match versus LSU, recorded a season-high of 18 digs vs. UAB, hit a season-best with 12 kills out of 17 attempts (0.706) in the finale versus Louisiana Tech.
